چکیده

Groundwater pollution by Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPLs) has become an increasing threat. This article studied the steam injection efficiency in groundwater remediation contaminated with non-aqueous phase liquid (diesel) through a bench-scale laboratory experiment. The experimental set up consists of boiler and sandbox. Steam, which was generated from supplied to sandbox at rate 0.14m3/s, pressure 1.5bar temperature 150°C. initial volume diesel used 500ml. At supply sandbox, it observed that mixture heated above their boiling points, change vaporized chamber outlet or recovery side into condenser were separated on cooling using separator. time 0 6 hours showed as increases, recovered increases 66.04% after allowed 6hours. Therefore, evident technique is efficient removal light liquids groundwater.

Removal of Lead (II) from Aqueous Solution Using Cocopeat: An Investigation on the Isotherm and Kinetic

The aim of the present work was to investigate the ability of Cocopeat to remove of lead (II) from aqueous solutions. The effects of different parameters such as particle size, adsorbent dosage, pH, contact time, agitation speed and concentration on the removal process has been investigated. The maximum removal of lead ion (92.5%) took place in the pH range of 4 contact time in 30 minutes a...

An environmental screening model to assess the consequences to soil and groundwater from railroad-tank-car spills of light non-aqueous phase liquids.

North American railroads transport a wide variety of chemicals, chemical mixtures and solutions in railroad tank cars. In the event of an accident, these materials may be spilled and impact the environment. Among the chemicals commonly transported are a number of light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs). If these are spilled they can contaminate soil and groundwater and result in costly cleanup...

varying degrees of water solubility. Some additives (e.g., methyl tertiary-butyl ether and alcohols) are highly soluble. Other components (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) are slightly soluble. Many components (e.g., ndodecane and n-heptane) have relatively low water solubility under ideal conditions. Physical and chemical properties which affect transport and fate of selected...

Arsenic Removal from Groundwater using Ferric

Arsenic is a carcinogenic metalloid that is currently regulated in drinking water. The levels of arsenic in finished water in an existing water treatment plant are exceeding the current regulation of 10 μg/L. One of the available technologies for arsenic removal from groundwater is adsorption onto coagulated flocs and in this field, ferric chloride is the most commonly used coagulant for arseni...

Ash and sulphur removal from bitumen using column flotation technique: Experimental and response surface methodology modeling

This study investigates removing ash and pyrite sulphur from bitumen by column flotation process. Central composite design (CCD) of response surface methodology (RSM) was applied for modeling and optimization of the percentage of ash and pyrite sulphur removal from bitumen. The effects of five parameters namely the amounts of collector and frother agents, particle size, wash water rate and feed...
